Methodist churches host revival

Three Days for God, a Christian revival co-sponsored by Eastmoor and Valley United Methodist churches, begins Sunday with college chaplain and Methodist elder Steve Rankin.

Rankin is no stranger to the area, having served as pastor for Youngtown, Florence, and Aulne churches from 1984 to 1988. Two of his children were born in Marion County.

“I’m very excited to be coming back to Kansas,” Rankin said.

Currently, Rankin is chaplain for Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Activities begin with worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Valley UMC. A youth gathering for high school and middle school youth is planned for 3:30 p.m, with pizza provided. An evening service will follow at 7 p.m. at Eastmoor UMC.

A carry-in luncheon for women will be at noon Monday at Eastmoor. Adults in their 20s and 30s will meet for dinner with Rankin at 6 p.m. at Valley, followed by a 7 p.m. service.

A men’s breakfast at 6 a.m. at Valley UMC and 7 p.m. service at Eastmoor UMC, both Tuesday, round out the event.

Reservations for the young adult dinner can be made by calling Valley UMC, (620) 382-3142, or Eastmoor UMC, (620) 382-3121.
