Methodist church announces activities

Special events are on the calendar for Peabody United Methodist Church members and the community through Easter Sunday.

First will be a reception for Judy Mellott Sunday in appreciation for her years of service as church secretary and to wish her well as she retires. The reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship area on the main level of the church.

On Palm Sunday, Peabody United Methodist Church will conduct a special service that will include songs by the children of the congregation and the church choir. An instrumental number will also be included. The community is invited to attend. The service starts at 10:40 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the church will host a family movie night. A film focusing on the death and sacrifice of Christ will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary popcorn and soda will be available. All families in the community are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. April 1 at the church. It will include music, a message by Pastor Ragland, and communion.

Easter Sunday Christian Education classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of the resurrection at 10:40. The choir is planning special music that will include brass instruments, the organ, and vocal music. The service will conclude with the “Hallelujah Chorus.” The community is invited to attend.
