Reports from school districts and townships are far from complete in a big scrap drive scheduled to have ended Saturday night. From what is known, the county is far below its quota of 950 tons.

Sarabel Wolf entertained a group of her friends Friday evening with a Halloween party in honor of her birthday. The early part of the evening was spent playing games and having refreshments served by her mother. Mrs. Wolf then took the children to the picture show. Those present were Janice Meisner, Joyce Priess, Patricia Henry, Jerry Priess, Mary Margaret Hannaford, Dicky Dale Miller, and Johnny Newcomer.

Douglas Herbert of DeForest Hatchery has been culling flocks this week around Lincolnville.

The Wichita papers carried the announcement that Don Hollar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hollar, has been elected president of the junior class at Wichita University. Don is a Naval Reserve student.

Mrs. Harry Harris entertained Tuesday evening with a birthday party in honor of her daughter Patsy’s 12th birthday. The girls played games. Those present were Ann Burkholder, Loyette Hollar, Joyce Ann Loveless, Nancy Myer, Betty Williams, Donna Hobein, Wanda Lee Williams, Naomi McIntosh, Mary Burnett, and Joan Hall.

Marion High School’s football team lost its game, 34-6, Friday evening on the local ground to an invading team from Augusta. The score, however, doesn’t tell the story. The smaller Marion boys fought gamely against a weighty team they could not handle. Toward the end of the game, Marion pulled a spinner around right end, and Ralph Johnston took the ball over for the only Marion score. Marion failed to convert.
