The popular annual events, Spring Show and Hereford Show, will be held April 12-13 but will take on a new complexion this year. The first night style show, held the past two years, will be eliminated and will replaced by other entertainment features.

Wilbur Melcher, former Marion coach and local resident, received a nice honor this week when he was notified he had been chosen as one of the four referees to work the Class A high school basketball tournament at Salina.

The combined choirs of the Marion Methodist church and the Marion Christian church will present the oratorio, “The Holy City,” at the Methodist church at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The choirs will be directed by Harry Propp.

Robert Bevan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Bevan of Lost Springs, has been appointed postmaster at Lost Springs. He took over his duties Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Orlie Harrison, correspondent from the Sunflower area writes “Kansas is dishing out another of her nice treats. There is never any just half-done thing with our good old state for our last fling of winter. We hope it’s the last. Nevertheless, Old Kansas, we love you!”

The following young people attended the Rural Life conference at Manhattan last weekend: June Schlotz, Betty Tiemeier, Catherine Heerey, Elizabeth Ford, Lois Kelsey, Lois Schmidt, Kenneth Hett, Milton Schlotthauer, Bernard Meysing, Don Davis, Max Dunn, and Melvin Koegeboehn.
