The Marion police car will soon be equipped with a two-way radio set, a duplicate of those sets now in use on the two automobiles operated by the sheriff’s force. Delivery and installation is promised within 60 days.

Dr. O.C. McCandless, Marion County health officer for the past nine years, has resigned to take over a new position as director of the Cheyenne city and Laramie County health unit in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The change takes effect March 1.

One of Marion’s popular businessmen for the past twenty years, Raleigh P. Johnson, died suddenly at his home Sunday morning of a heart attack. He had been in business here as a barber since 1931.

The Wren School held a “Hobby Show” for the community Jan. 31. A very fine display of hobbies was exhibited by the children and judged by Miss Josephine Nickel and Mrs. Gladys Newbauer.

Ribbons were received by first grader Deanna Kay Klenda, third grader Ethel Brunner, fourth grader Juanita Kelsey, fifth grader Dean Klenda, sixth grader Bobby Eckstrom; and seventh graders Freddie Eckstrom, Barbara Yeagley, Zona Kelsey, and Carol Weyand.

Arnold Schwemmer was honored this week when he was chosen to be on the “Senior All American Basketball Team,” picked by the Gold Medal Tournament Division of the Central States basketball headquarters of Indianapolis, Indiana. Arnold plays with the Tampa team.

Members of the Stardusters Orchestra planned a party for friends Friday evening at the Blue Moon in Wichita. Twelve couples enjoyed listening and dancing to the music of Tex Beneke and his famous orchestra.

There was a successful coyote drive through the area south of town Sunday. Bartel and Kreutziger in their plane and a fleet of cars killed seven, including one red one that had been seen several times by different men who decided he was an “old settler.”
