Pfc. Jack Herzet, popular young Marion boy who enlisted in the Army in October 1948, at 17, is reported missing in action in Korea. The son of Mrs. Dixie Herzet, relatives and friends are anxiously awaiting further word of him.

Final results in the Kid’s Fishing Tournament show some astounding figures. There was a tie in the largest fish contest. Dennis Navrat, Jim Christensen, and Bill Meredith each caught 1¼-pounders the first day. Dennis was awarded first since his fish measured the longest. Most caught went to Junior Post for boys with 40 and to Connie Long for the girls with 26. Johnnie Price caught the largest number for the entire tournament, a total of 71.

Tim Burkholder, Bud Hannaford, C.R. Moulton, and Bob Reinke left Monday for a vacation in Colorado.

Alertness on part of Hillsboro’s night marshal Leo Regier, plus prompt and effective action by Sheriff James Kline, plus help from the KBI and the Kansas City police force, brought about apprehension Wednesday of a gang of teenage Kansas City hoodlums who had robbed Janzen’s Jewelry store in Hillsboro Sunday morning of approximately $7,000 in merchandise.

One hundred twenty-six members of the Hett family met at Marion Waterworks Park Sunday, Aug. 13, for their annual reunion.
