Roger Morse, Marion attorney, has purchased a downtown building in the 400 block of E. Main St. It formerly was owned by Earl Linn and more recently by B.J. Allen and housed a duck-pin bowling alley owned by Mrs. Earl Linn. The entire building will be remodeled and new heating and central air conditioning installed.

Janet Stika was guest of honor at a birthday party Tuesday evening after school. Helping her celebrate were Beverly Bowers, Teresa Case, Lisa Holmes, Dotty Lentz, Cora and Vickie Klassen, Rita Stika, Teresa Turk, Cynthia and Cindy Weddle, Jeannie Widler, and Becky Wood.

The West Side Motel in Marion will reopen, probably in about 10 days, according to Leroy Newton, who will operate it. Mr. and Mrs. Newton and their children have moved to Marion and are busy cleaning, repairing, and otherwise getting the motel ready for business. They will handle groceries, as in the past.

Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Amick of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Kay, to Albert Lee Steele, son of Mrs. Lula Steele of Neodesha.

An adult typing class for people of the community will have its first meeting Jan. 23 in the typing room of Marion High School. Commerce instructor Kenneth Harvey will supervise the course.
