A resolution passed at the September meeting of the Marion board of education requests that the town construct more sidewalks for use by school children. The sidewalk situation from the new elementary school is deplorable, members of the board stated.
A program of fun and laughter is planned for the annual Community Guild Banquet on Sept. 17 in the Marion City Building basement.
Marion Evangelical United Brethren Church members will meet Sept. 15 for the first time in their splendid new church building on E. Main St. The official dedication will be Nov. 24.
Mr. and Mrs. Leland Weber have announced the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Ann, to Airman 3rd Class Ora N. Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hett of Marion. No wedding date has been set.
Charles Norris was medalist at a Labor Day golf tournament at Marion Country Club. His 36-hole total was 144. First flight winner was Rosse Case with 142. The second flight trophy went to Earl Wood with 146, third flight to Blaine Babb with 150, and fourth to Dick Schwartz with 177.
Mrs. Rex Clothier was hostess Saturday morning to a “welcome” coffee honoring Mrs. Charles Schmidtberger, who recently moved to Marion. Guests were Mrs. Ezra Helmer, Mrs. Frank Boyle, Mrs. Don Seibel, Mrs. Will Helmer, Mrs. Robert Oller, and Mrs. Roland Vogel.
