Lola Kreuter stepped down Monday from her duties as an officer at Marion National Bank, where she has worked for the past 33 years.

A telegram to the Record today from Senator James Pearson in Washington brings the information that Marion County has been declared a disaster area because of a the July 11 flood that swept through the northwestern part of the county just 12 years to the day after the disaster of 1951.

Mrs. Jerry Makovec has been working in the register of deeds office while Mrs. P.J. Garrison has been on vacation.

About 150 boys and girls in the Marion community are participating in the Athletic Association’s summer youth program, according to John Christensen, director. In Pee Wee League, Billy Newlin was named player of the week. Billy struck out nine batters. Dean Ensey is player of the week in Midget League. Dean scored four runs and did a good job at fielding.

If you remember when cars had turtlebacks, then you’re old enough to vote. You probably have fond memories of rumble seats, too.

Bob Hoover, Bob Brooks, and Jack Swain won Sunday in the three flights of the Marion Country Club handicap golf tournament. Reuben Zerger won the first hole-in-one contest. Brooks had the closest tee shot on No. 3.
