Marion Investment Development Corp., which financed the building of Mar-Bowl bowling lanes, announced this week that it had bought the interest of the two original promoters and will completely renovate the business this summer.

The 1963 wheat harvest in Marion County is in full swing this week. A roundup report of neighborhood elevators indicates it will be a good one — better that expected in most areas.

According to annual figures compiled by county deputy assessors, the cities of Hillsboro, Florence, Burns, and Marion were among those in the county showing gains in population this year. Others show slight gains or losses. Townships generally continued a trend of several years standing — decreasing population.

The new Southwestern Bell Telephone Company building here is complete, and work is proceeding on installing equipment before the changeover to dial service.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Childress and their eldest daughter, Pam, from Wichita radio and television will be in Marion June 16 for an appearance at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The public is invited.

Mrs. Paul Williams received $50 at this Wednesday’s Cash Day drawing. Also receiving cash were Kenneth Nienstedt, Marion, $25, and Mrs. Jake Hein, Marion, $5.
