Marion Industrial Development Corporation, the Marion County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, and the Marion County Soil Conservation Service will sponsor a public open house Dec. 8 at new facilities housing these government offices at 119 S. Coble St. in Marion.

A total of 6,000 doses of Sabin oral vaccine for Marion Countians are in cold storage this week, awaiting next week’s countywide drive aimed at wiping out polio.

Five youngsters got a thrill Friday evening when their names were drawn in the first of two Christmas drawings. Winner of a new bicycle was Cynthia Highsmith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Highsmith. Two second prizes of flash camera outfits went to Ruth Morse and Gail Whiteman. Two third prizes of a basketball goal and big doll went to Randy Mott and Barbara Hill.

Clarence and Winnie Conyers are inviting the public to an open house Sunday at Conyers Flowers to look over ideas for Christmas decorating. Refreshments and favors will be offered.

Two Scout executives will be here Tuesday night to help parents learn how to organize a Boy Scout troop in Marion. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at Marion Elementary School.

Marion residents and visitors have been interested in construction at east edge of town of town of a half-million-gallon water storage tower.
