Marion County Jail has seen its share of strange sights, but this week they included one not yet on the books — a snake. A pet bull snake, about two feet long, was brought in, wrapped around the waist of a man charged with being drunk in a public place.

The student body of Marion High School turned out at the polls Tuesday for a general election on Student Government Day. The Individualist Party took the majority of offices. Victorious candidates were Shirley Bredemeier, Judy Broadstreet, Pam Domke, Wayne Ewert, Donna Hanschu, Chris Hauser, Tina Holmes, Max Jackson, Mary Konarik, Max Miller, Cheryl Schimpf, JoAnn Stroda, Virginia Tajchman, Tom Tucker, Connie Warneke, and Maurice Williams.

The Wichita Eagle this week named Keith Just to the all-area football first team in football. Ron Kelsey was named to the honorable mention team.

Roger Bennett entertained six of his classmates Nov. 13 to celebrate his 11th birthday. Those present were Lance Alexander, Roger Jackson, Chuck McElwain, Terry Plenert, Craig Smith, and Tommy Thomas.

Babies born this week at St. Luke Hospital include Robert Charles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vinduska of Marion; Royden Kent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Albrecht of Lincolnville; Vickie Frances, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Moore of Florence; and Mitchell Blaine, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson, Marion.
