Seven hundred students from Kansas high schools, including 16 Marion High School juniors and seniors left Wednesday on an Easter vacation tour to Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

Marion students going were Bryan Alexander, Chuck Bredemeier, Mary Christensen, Kris Conyers, Pat Costello, Robert Elling, Robert Good, LaVonda Hett, George Jackson, Darold Longhofer, James Magee, Rod Oelschlager, Judy Pankratz, John Sandwell, Wallace Slusser, and Jan Varenhorst.

Robert R. Brooks was re-elected Tuesday as finance commissioner of the City of Marion for the next three years. Brooks has served as finance commissioner for a year, following the resignation of Earl Kreuter last spring.

Marion Elementary 6th graders will present the 3-act musical play, “Alice in Wonderland” April 15 at Marion City Auditorium. Parts will be played by Marilee McGinness, Steve Warkentine, Mike Edmunds, Brent Colle, Shirley Hamm, Henry Bingaman, Teresa Hett, Glen Bartel, Derald Bezdek, Ricky Schwendiman, Randy Perkins, Mike Jackson, Billy Finke, Brad Kimball, Richard Bowers, Douglas Krause, Dennis Helmer, and Tony Turner.

Clarence Kline was not present to receive the first prize of $200 in this week’s Cash Days drawing. Ike Hiebert of Hillsboro missed $5; Mrs. John Haas, Marion, received $5; Mrs. Charles Weber, Marion, received $5; and Lewis Pritchard, Peabody, missed $15. Prizes next Wednesday will be $200, $10, $5, $5, and $20.

Easter ice cream specials at the Peter Pan ice cream store are: Half Gallons, reg. 79c flavors, 59c; premium flavors, 69c; 4 Half Gallons, $2.29; Ice Cream Sandwiches, dozen, 99c; Hot Fudge Sundae, 29c; Sherbet, pint, 15c; and Grade A, Large Eggs, dozen, 49c, limit 4 dozen.
