Neva Reid of Florence is the subject of week’s “Personality Profile.” Reid has both a job and a business. She has been with the U.S. Postal Service since 1966 and Reid’s Guys Shop since 1972 while also being involved in a number of civic activities.

Ron Wineinger of Marion was elected governor this week of American Legion Boys’ State at Lawrence. He is the first Marion representative — and for that matter, the first small town representative — in recent memory, to be elected governor.

The former Lincolnville school building was destroyed in an early Sunday morning fire. Owners of the building, Lloyd and Mark Pagenkopf, estimated damage to the building, which housed National Tri Products, at $10,000. Built in 1909, the building was last used as a school in the 1966-67 school year.
