Melvin M. Gradert, 51, was sworn in as Associate District Judge for the Marion County District Court Monday. More than 35 attorneys, law enforcement officers, and close friends attended the official robing ceremony in the Marion County Courtroom at 11 a.m.

Barry Linnens, mayor, banker, and insurance agent of Florence, is the subject for this week’s “Personality Profile.”

Members of Marion Chamber of Commerce were entertained Friday by 17 youngsters of Mary Ann Kohls’ School of Dance. The children performed three tap dancing routines and 8-year-old Vicki Kay Hartley performed a solo “Charleston” routine for the over 75 Chamber members in attendance.

The bell choir of Eastmoor United Methodist Church presented a program at the April 7 meeting of Neo-Century Club. Choir members are Tracy Burkholder, Nancy Kline, Loraine, Loreen, and Janice Wiens, Cindy Heerey, and Melanie Conyers. The choir is directed by Mrs. Jon Thole.
