Thomas E. Duggan of Tampa has been appointed postmaster at Lincolnville after six years as a rural carrier there. Before working at Lincolnville, Duggan carried mail at Tampa for 16 years.

Ron Wineinger of Marion is spending most of November in New Zealand representing the United States at the Fourth World Congress of Agricultural Education. Wineinger is the immediate past president of the National FFA Organization.

Among the 12 girls selected to form the all-league Cottonwood Valley volleyball team are Sue Webb and Rolana Ludwig, both seniors at Marion High School. Coaches individually named honorable mention players from their respective teams. Marion coach Jim Versch named seniors Kelley Enos and April Ogden as honorable mention players.

“First Dollar of Profit’ certificates, presented this week by representatives of Marion Chamber of Commerce, went to four new businesses in Marion. They include the new dinner club “The Chief,” Dr. Ed VanLieu who has opened a chiropractic clinic in the west end of the ASCS building, Jordan Auto Service, new auto service garage at 102 S. Second, and to Joyce Richmond, who has opened a hair salon at 105 S. Freeborn.

Lois Weber is pictured with a display of dozens of bibs that women of the Marion VFW Auxiliary have made for use in the three veterans’ hospitals in Kansas. Additional items displayed are lap warmers and nightshirts, also to be sent to the hospitals.
