Marion city commissioners listened Monday to a well-prepared proposal by developer Doug Sharp and gave tentative blessing to his proposal to establish Country Club Heights.

Beary Special Babies born during October and November at St. Luke Hospital include Scott Henry Jones, Oct. 10; Marcus Allen Buller, Nov. 13; and Tiffany Renee Ness, Nov. 20.

English teacher Kristina Bell has been chosen as teacher of the month at Marion High School. Besides teaching English, she also coaches Florence Middle School volleyball, sponsors the junior class, is yearbook sponsor, and is assistant basketball coach at the high school.

Juanita Helmer will retire at the end of the year after 19 years as deputy clerk and court clerk in the Marion County judicial system.

Marion High School honor students Rebecca Collett, Brad Druse, Laura Hanes, Ellen Hett, Danielle Longhofer, Heather Pope, Melissa Stevens, Terese Vinduska, Nick Voelker, and Christian Vogel attended Business Career Day at Emporia State University.
