Greeted by an enthusiastic throng of well-wishers, Topeka attorney Carla Stovall officially announced her campaign for attorney general Monday in Marion, her hometown.

A Nov. 4 opening date is planned for Marion Hometown Foods, a new supermarket under construction on E. Main St. Planners from Affiliated Foods are assisting owner Rick Turner in stocking the store, arranging items, and checking available space.

Pictured are Matt Classen and Violet Richmond, Marion Chamber of Commerce ambassadors, as they presented a “first dollar of profit” plaque to Bruce Skiles, who operates a chiropractic clinic in St. Luke Medical Clinic and is staff anesthetist at St. Luke Hospital.

Marion Elementary School students Chevon Beisel, Emily Costello, Mandalee Meisner, Travis Moore, Damion Schinnerer, and Camille Wessel will participate Saturday in the Elementary Choir Fall Festival at Andover High School.

Jay Christensen of Marion has been appointed postmaster for Cedar Point. He started his duties there Oct. 16. He is a 1983 graduate of Marion High School and graduated from Butler County Community College.
