The courthouse may go back to its original slate roof if funding comes through. From 1906 to 1971, the courthouse had a black slate roof. It was removed and asphalt shingles laid. However, the roof must now be replaced because shingles are breaking down. Heritage Trust funds could be used to make up the difference between asphalt and slate if an application for funding is approved.
