The beautification committee of Marion Chamber of Commerce has awarded a letter of commendation to Todd and Vicki Guetersloh for the recent restoration and paint job on their home at 115 N. Fourth. The home was built in 1903 by Jeremiah Forney and was part of the first of four Miller additions to Marion Centre.

After having a few weeks of beautiful fall weather, most all farmers have completed their fall wheat sowing and now are busy harvesting milo. Snow and rain on Tuesday caused a slight delay.

Marion Elementery School jump rope demonstration team members named Oct. 21 include Chelsi Carlson Katie Zogelman, Lyndsay Sherbert, Chelsea Arnhold, Adam John, Riley Ross, Jill Hannaford, Jandee Sharp, Alex Nuss, Andrew John, Sarah Williams, Leann Thomas, Sarah Lowry, Shawna Hett, Evan Sharp, Ashley Secrest, Alisa Prior, Nikki Moody, Natasha Steinborn, and Renee Lundgren.

The team performs at various schools around the area, promoting and emphasizing the need for regular physical exercises.

Kathy Goodin, Marion County Extension agent, recently was honored by the Kansas Extension Association of Family and Consumer-Sciences for her educational efforts regarding domestic abuse.

A demonstration by the Kansas Highway Patrol at Marion High School Tuesday showed students what can happen to a passenger unrestrained by a seatbelt in a roll-over accident.

The annual chili and soup dinner, along with an arts/crafts festival, sponsored by Marion County Lake’s Chat and Dine Club, will be held Nov. 9 at the lake hall. Proceeds from the event go toward betterment of life for residents and visitors at the Marion County Park and Lake.
