Central Park in downtown Marion bore the brunt of Friday night’s windstorm. Several mature trees were severely damaged by the 70 mph wind.

City workers were on duty all night Friday and throughout the day Saturday restoring electrical service, repairing wires that were down, and clearing streets of debris.

Florence Middle School coach Steve Janzen will travel to Topeka August 4 to accept his award as Kansas State High school Activities Association Middle School Coach of the year.

Liverpool makes a return appearance to Marion Summerfest Saturday on Central Park Stage. The band uses original 1960s-era equipment and reproductions of the original costumes to recreate the Beatles as closely as possible.
