Brothers Greg and Mitch Carlson of Marion have purchased Dave’s IGA grocery store at 1116 East Main. They took over sole ownership Monday of what is now called Carlsons’ Grocery.

Lack of precipitation since 1987 has caused water in Marion Reservoir to recede from shorelines, reducing the number of usable boast ramps in Durham Cove to one at the current time.

Hillsboro policeman Byron McCarty proved he is a good investigator when he identified all “bogus” advertisements in Marion County Record classified columns during December. He is pictured as Jean Stuchlik, newspaper staff member, presents him with a $50 gift certificate as his reward for identification.

Lucille Britain, 58, Marion County commissioner and former city clerk for Marion, died Dec. 27 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
