Groundwork is in progress at Cooperative Grain and Supply in Marion for erection of a new 300,000-bushel grain bin. Drillers are digging 108 holes approximately 55 feet deep to bedrock to hold supporting beams. The concrete bin will be 60 feet in diameter and 120 feet tall and will be used mainly to store wheat.
New business owner Brad Cady is pictured as he changes the sign of his business from Mid-America Marble Products Inc. to Mid-America Marble. The Kansas City resident recently purchased the cultured marble manufacturing business from David and Laura Yates of Marion.
Physician’s assistant Nita Bittle will begin seeing patients Sept. 4 at St. Luke Medical Clinic,
Stonemason Jack Boese, Marion, is restoring a stone incinerator and boat dock at Marion County Park and Lake and is keeping them as original as possible. Money for the project was appropriated by the county commission.
Terry Olsen, president of Marion County Farm Bureau, presented Paula and Warren Fike of Ramona a Farm Bureau Century Farm award Saturday at the annual county Farm Bureau meeting in Marion. The Fikes are the third generation to live on the farm.
