Ralph Kreutziger and Robert Schmidt, both of Marion, hit the jackpot March 16 when the pair won $20,000 from a $2 Kansas lottery bonus crossword scratch ticket.
Baseball historian David Stalker of Watertown, Wisconsin, wants to memorialize Marion native and New York Giants baseball player Charles “Victory” Faust with a monument in Marion. Stalker is working on a series of monuments of baseball players in the 1902-1919 era.
Marion High School’s A-Team, along with director of Marion County Communities in Schools Linda Ogden is working toward promoting positive images of teens in Marion. Members of the team are Emily Svoboda, Sam Ehrlich, Julia Zeiner, Levi Carpenter, Mara Prescott, Camille Christensen, Christie Coleman, Lee Ownsby, Kayley Heerey, Elisa Gayle, Emmanuel Jackson, Brett Billings, Nick Klenda, and Mark Kukuk.
Tootsie and Dale Snelling are getting ready to leave their home adjacent to the Marion County Lake office, where they have served as superintendent and assistant for 43 years. They plan to retire to their country home near Wonsevu in Chase County.
Workers are busy at Marion Historical Museum installing air conditioning and heating to make the museum more comfortable for visitors and workers and to preserve artifacts.
