There will be a Union Sunday School celebration at Central Park, Marion Centre, on the 2d Saturday in September for all the Sunday Schools in the 2d Commissioner District. Bring your baskets well filled and let us have a good old-fashioned celebration.

A wind mill has been erected at the sugar factory.

John Madden yields to the solicitation of his many friends and announces himself as a candidate for the office of County Attorney. John is one of the boys who has grown up with the country, and enjoys a large acquaintance in the county. Mr. Madden will make a strong, manly race, and his opponents will have no time to sleep.

A gentleman requests us to suggest that there are still some weeds standing around town.

Reports have been in circulation of a quarrel over some hay between two men in the edge of Chase County, last week, resulting in one of them being killed with a pitchfork, but we can hear nothing definite about it.

Dr. Hannaford evidently believes that the “third time is the charm.” Though he has lost two fine stallions in the past few years, he has just imported another fine Kentucky horse from the celebrated farm of Wm. T. Withers, Lexington. The following is the pedigree of this splendid gray colt, Altimo: Sired by Almont, the great sire of trotters; half brother of Goldsmith Maid.
