A group of five people from Marion Presbyterian Church will work on house construction May 26 to June 2 in Haiti. Pastor Jeremiah Lang, Mike Moran, Bill Darrow, and Brad and Jeannie Wildin have already committed to the mission trip. They will build a home in the Port-au-Prince area of Haiti in partnership with Haiti Outreach Ministries.
Sophomore Kaelyn Thierolf and junior Spencer Fugitt have been chosen by Marion High School faculty and staff as October Students of the Month.

Marion High School cross-country runner Jordan Hett ran in the Class 3A state championship cross-country race at Rim Rock Farm near Lawrence Saturday. He finished third with a time of 17:13 in his third career trip to the state championship.
Cow Camp Ranch owner Mark Bruner of Ramona traveled throughout Russia and Kazakhstan Oct. 6 through Oct. 17 on a Kansas Department of Agriculture-sponsored trip that headlined Russian and Kazakhstani producers interested in building feedlots with American cattle.
Marion Police Department sponsored a costume contest on Monday in Liberty Park. Winners were Macie Brewer, pre-K; Landon Dye, kindergarten; Will Alleven, first and second grades; Christian Albin, third and fourth grades; Hap Waddell, fifth and sixth grades.
