Following the resignation of interim road and bridge superintendent Bud Druse Monday, the commission announced the hiring of Randy Crawford of Hillsboro as superintendent effective Sept. 6.

Kathleen and Ronald “Bunk” Ludwig of Florence will be the grand marshals of the Florence Labor Day parade. The long-lived Ludwig business, Ludwig Truck line, Inc., was a business in Florence for more than 40 years.
Marion Kiwanis Club has announced that the theme for this year’s Old Settlers’ Day parade will be “Marion — 150 Years of Progress — and Counting. The parade will be 11 a.m. Sept. 24 in downtown Marion.
Members of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club in Marion made 45 pillows for Marion Elementary School kindergartners to use during their “brain time” naps. Participating in the project were Larry Ziemmermann, Myranda Stika, Arianna Ciero, Micayla Stika, Alex Stika, Cara Martin, Aaron Stika, Miles Olsen, and Johnny Ziemmermann.
