Marion County Commission voted Monday to put a question on the ballot for the April 5 election as to whether to implement a 0.5 sales tax question on the ballot for a maximum of 20 years.

If approved revenue would be used to pay bonds that would be issued to finance construction of a new jail, sheriff’s office, and 911center.

Classroom teachers choose students in kindergarten through sixth grade who exhibit the three traits of success — being responsible, being respectful, and doing their best.

Centre High School boys basketball team defeated Little River 49 to 47 Friday. However, Saturday’s match with first seed Pretty Prairie proved to be too much for the 12-8 Cougars, and they walked away with the sub-state runner-up plaque.
