Former Marion teacher Judi Stewart will be going to Romania in March with a team of volunteers on a 5-week Heart to Heart International Mission to orphanages to provide medical education and deliver medical aid. The team will stay in one location and travel from orphanage to orphanage on a team bus, accompanied by an interpreter.

Wilma Mueller of Newton has joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Department as an investigator.

Jordan Hett has been selected as this week’s MHS Athlete of the Week. The Warriors took first place Saturday in the Centre Invitational defeating Hope 43-40. Jordan scored 22 points Friday against White City and 15 against Hope the next night. He also was named to the all-tournament team.

Agent Jayson Hanschu of Hillsboro has been named Kansas Agent of the Month by American Family Insurance. Hanschu has been an agent since September 1998.

The cost of digging a trench for utility lines could be a barrier to building rental cabins at Marion County Park and Lake, siblings Chris and Tamra Holub told Marion County Commission on Monday,

Marion Middle School seventh graders Elizabeth Meyer and Bailey Robson took first and second, respectively, out of 20 participants Jan. 19 at the middle school spelling bee. Eighth grader Austin Hacker, third place, will be the alternate at the county meet.
