The 14th annual Chingawassa Days begins Friday with the Marion National Bank’s community barbecue. An ice cream social will follow as will traditional bluegrass music and a performance by hypnotist Brad Clark.

Peabody Main Street Association and Peabody Economic Development announced Saturday that a Kansas City developer has purchased the five connected historic Baker buildings on the west side of Peabody’s Main Street.

USD 408 hosted a reception May 26 for six teachers who are retiring at the end the year. Included are: Jan Davis, 23 years, art; Mary Griffith, 26 years, language arts, drama, and debate; Anita Hancock, 21 years, music; Marj Sandberg, 35 years, fifth and sixth grade math; Doug Vogel, 22 years, guidance counselor and special education; and Wanda William, 26 years, kindergarten, librarian.

It’s been more than 50 years since Lincolnville had its own high school, but alumni of the school meet every three years to keep its memory alive. At least 61 graduates, 33 spouses, and 21 guests attended a reunion Saturday at the Lincolnville Community Center.
