According to organizer Davey Hett, there will be no ball drop or fireworks display New Year’s Eve as there has been in the past because the pyrotechnician is not available to detonate the fireworks. “I didn’t want to have a ball drop without fireworks”, Hett said.

More than 5 inches of snow fell in Marion County Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, mixed with 40 to 50 mph winds. It created conditions that had residents doing a lot of digging before heading out to work Friday morning.

Don and Ramona Beisel of Tampa will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 10 with a reception and dance at Pilsen Community Center. The public is invite to the celebration.

Area families gathered for Christmas celebrations. The family of Jackie Hett met Dec. 23 at a Wichita motel for their annual Christmas celebration.

Guests of Gerald and Sharon Kelsey Dec. 20 were members of their family. A highlight of their day was visiting the live nativity at the Good News Christian Fellowship Church.
