Marion High School opened Monday, the 8th, with the largest enrollment it has ever had, there being 150 pupils enrolled and more expected throughout the week. Enrolled are 2 postgraduates, 28 seniors, 17 juniors, 45 sophomores, and 60 freshmen.
At a joint meeting of the city commissioners and the school board Monday night, a scheme was outlined for piping water from the spring to the school building and installing drinking fountains in two halls.
Harvey Hett left Sunday for Montana to try his luck with new land opening there. He will visit friends in Alberta, Canada, and other places before returning home.
Dr. C.A. Branch, who has been located at Herington for the past eight years, has decided to permanently locate in Marion and expects to open his office for business about Sept. 20. He is having the two front rooms in the Wonderland building, directly across the street from the post office, repaired and fitted for an up-to-date dental office.
Vella Niederhauser expects to return to Wichita tomorrow to continue her musical studies, having sufficiently recovered to be again able to take up the work.
