During church services Sunday night, Jacob Good’s car was taken from near the church and returned with one tire punctured. William Thies’s car also was taken and found later on the school grounds, with one wheel considerably damaged. It is not known whether this was an attempt to steal the cars or was merely a prank.

Several hundred pairs of old shoes for the Belgians were gathered here on Thanksgiving by the Masons.

Hazel Logan and Emory Hawbecker were united in marriage Friday. Both bride and groom are graduates of Marion High School and are young people of real worth, held in very high esteem. They are both teaching school. At the conclusion of their schools in the spring they will make their home here.

Earle Rogers brought three wagon loads of hogs to town the other day with his big tractor.

Lincolnville was in the path of a balloon that passed over Kansas Sunday night. Electric light wires were broken near Mr. Poppe’s home in the west side, and several feet of heavy cable were found near there the next morning.

James Miesse, who was in the hospital when Company M left and has been at home until he could regain his strength, received his call to join the company Friday and left on a night train for Camp Doniphan.
