Tuesday, Sept. 25, was one of the great days in the history of the town — one of the days that will be long remembered. At about 6 o’clock in the evening of that day, Company M left for Camp Doniphan, Oklahoma, where its members will be in training for an uncertain period before leaving for France.

Tomato vines 10 feet high — Ed Hannaford has them in his patch. He has been for a number of years the champion tomato grower of the town, and this year is breaking his record. One tomato, which he picked the other day, weighed 31 ounces.

S.L. Brose has been putting in a lot of improvements at his residence — concrete retaining wall, sidewalks, etc.

City mail delivery will start next Monday. There will be two deliveries a day, the first one starting at 7:30 and the second at 2:30. It is hoped that a third delivery to business houses will be added soon.

On Friday evening, a company of about 50 young ladies had a picnic supper in the park. It was the Marion girls giving a picnic and reception for schoolteachers, milliners and other new young ladies in the town. It was a very informal and enjoyable gathering.

A.F. Holmgren of the Lincolnville bank has been drawn for the federal jury. Walter Siebert will go up next week to have charge of the bank during his absence.
