Within a few days after the Army bill passes Congress, registration will be underway throughout the country. It was announced in Washington that 21 to 35 is likely to be agreed upon as the age limit for registration for the draft. Sheriff Armstrong has received letters relative to preliminary arrangements.

Frost Monday night did quite a little damage in places throughout the county.

Before the district track meet last week in Emporia, a Marion man overheard this conversation between a couple of men who seemed to be Emporia citizens: “Well, the high school boys are here for their district track meet today. Who do you suppose will win?” “Don’t know anything about it. Is Marion entered? If Marion is in, I reckon Marion will take it as usual.”

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Winne have bought the Dr. Hannaford place on Elm St. and will probably build a new residence there after a while. In the meantime, they will live in the Tarbet residence.

Judge King has decided to dispense with juries for the May term of court. All jury cases will go over until the October term. Farmers are very busy now, and the judge thought there was special urgency in view of the war situation.
