The Marion High undefeated football team put one more obstacle behind last Friday at El Dorado and are going on to Hutchinson tomorrow for a game, the winning of which will give the Marion team dope on most of the big High school teams of the state — and of course everyone knows that they are going to win. And a big crowd from here expects to watch them do it.

Harry Rogers and Ed Barrett are representing Marion at the State Fireman’s Convention at Houlton this week.

A Halloween party was given at the Country Club last Friday evening. The evening was spent in dancing, about thirty couples being present. Many unique costumes, representing school children were worn, and the refreshments were served out of lunch pails brought by each couple.

The congregation of the Methodist church is at work there today having a great housecleaning time.

The death of “uncle” George Coble, out in Washington, where he has made his home for some time, touched many tender chords in this old town where he pioneered and where he still has a host of friends. “Honest as the days are long, a Chesterfield of politeness, a sane optimist, a delightful conversationalist, everybody’s friend” was George Coble. Marion says goodbye to him with regret.

The Board of County Commissioners, assisted by Glenn Lilley of Marion National Bank and Jerome McIntosh of the Farmers and Drovers National Bank, made the annual examination of the County Treasurer’s books Monday and Tuesday and they were all found regular as was, of course, expected.

Mr. and Mrs. Braden C. Johnston, Margaret Smith, Supt. Poundstone, Miss Dorothy Bowlby, Roger Hannaford, Miss Mabel Willey, and Miss Eldena Williamson witnessed the Aggie-Missouri ball game at Manhattan Saturday.
