While the contracting company is here putting in pavement, the city officials have decided to widen the pavement in the block east from the high school entrance. The corner at the bridge, where Elm Street joins Main, will also be cut back, making a safer corner.

The county got a fine rain Wednesday which was pretty general over this part of the country. Close to an inch fell in this vicinity.

Common school graduates will receive their diplomas next week. In the grade schools the following students won honor places: Earl Bevan, Lost Springs, 1st with an average of 95; Albert Riffel, Lincolnville, 2nd; Anna Spohn, Tampa, third.

In the rural schools Abraham Dahl of Hillsboro made high grade with 94; Walter Claney, Marion, 2nd; and John Dahl, Hillsboro, 3rd.

There will be a big cake walk in the city park Wednesday evening given by the ways and means committee of the Federated Ladies Society.

Earl L. Magathan, electrical contractor, has moved his office and sales room to the Winchester building one door west of the Ferm’s bakery. For a number of years he has had his business location with the Delaplain Jewelry store.

Kansas Automobile Laws require sheriff and peace officers to arrest automobile drivers who are driving automobiles without license for the fiscal year unless they have receipt for same for the fiscal year. Drivers are further warned that it is unlawful to use spot lights in approaching all vehicles. T.B. Armstrong, Sheriff, Marion County.
