“Bill” Hargiss, formerly instructor in the High School here, was in town Saturday. He is to be with the Emporia Normal this year and is looking up athletic material.

Messrs. W.C. Loveless and D.M. Seneker of the Loveless-Seneker store are in St. Louis this week buying for the store.

Rev. and Mrs. Chester O. Burgert are getting settled in the new Evangelical parsonage, the first house north of the Presbyterian church. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Good while making ready the new home.

Notice to property owners: All weeds not cut this week will be cut by the City and costs charged to the property. J.C. McIntosh, Mayor

Mr. John Holder died at his home Wednesday afternoon. He has been one of the well known and respected colored citizens, having engaged in the barber business here for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson visited relatives in Winfield from Saturday to Monday, making the trip in the new Cadillac. Mrs. Johnson has traded the Buick to Mr. Johnson for the Cadillac.

A new window has been placed in O’Bryant’s shoe store this week replacing the one broken by an auto recently.
