Fred Mehlinger, who is doing a good job of taking care of the park, is taking a great deal of interest in making the south part a good place for tourists to camp. And many have been taking advantage of the convenience offered by the city.

The Marion Band was reinforced Monday by eight Hillsboro men who came down and played with them through the day. They were: Chas. Riegle, Adolph Schaeffler, A. Coons, Logan Dole, George Dole, Emerson Dole, Leo Harms, and Chas. Loewen.

Miss Esther Wren’s Sunday school class of twelve girls enjoyed an all-day picnic Wednesday in Robert’s grove.

On July Fourth, Mrs. J.A. Pankratz was hostess at a dinner given in honor of the 21st birthday anniversary of her son, Arthur Pankratz. Guests were Misses Hulda Ehrlich, Rachel Propp, Elizabeth Seifert and Marie Seibel and Messrs. Jonah Seifert, Dave Seifert, Adam Seifert Jr., Harry Propp, and Albert Ehrlich.

The best shooting event of the season was held at the country residence of E.K. Rogers, where Earle K. Rogers Gun Club has it traps. The shooting was unusually good, the scores being high with the exception of beginners.
