A real cold spell struck this section Monday and Monday night and froze a quarter of an inch of ice on small quantities of water. Much of the gardens and fruit which had escaped previous cold spells were killed.

The Love Tea Room opened Wednesday noon. It is located in the rooms upstairs over the Ferm Bakery which have been nicely fitted for the enterprise. The two serving rooms are furnished with pretty oak topped wicker tables and the place has a decidedly “homey” appearance.

The valley east of Elm Street and parallel to Main is an unsightly place. Why not make a citizen’s bee and pick out the tin cans and rubbish? That might be a pretty park.

The latest picture to be hung in the fine collection at the court house is that of Ferd J. Funk, placed there this week.

There was a pleasant little social gathering last Thursday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wright southwest of town. The occasion was a surprise party given them by the neighbors and friends, when about thirty-six of them quietly drove in and took possession of the place. Games were played and a fine social time enjoyed, Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served.
