Mary Yerion

Services for Mary Anne Yerion, 90, who passed away Sept. 12 at Hillsboro Community Hospital, were Tuesday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.

Mary’s life began Sept. 15, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan. She was a daughter of Dr. Howard W. and Myrtle L. (Tobias) Johnson.

Mary was a 1947 graduate of Greenbelt High School in Maryland.

She served her country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1954 as an assistant in a medical hospital.

Mary was a homemaker and a teacher’s aide for more than 20 years.

She was united in marriage to Roland Yerion Nov. 1, 1953, in New Mexico.

Mary was an avid quilter and a member of Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.

She also was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Mary is survived by daughters Shawn (and husband, Tom) Wunderlick of Marion, Deckie (and husband, Tim) Kerfoot of Washington, Nona (and husband Dwayne) Woolbright of South Carolina, and Heather (and husband Kristin) Yerion-Keck of Kansas City; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and brother.

She was laid to rest in Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
