Officers worked on reports, provided vehicle identification number inspections, conducted traffic stops, locked baseball complex and park bathrooms nightly, follow-up investigations were conducted, and attended meetings.
May 17: An individual met with an officer. Cases were delivered to the Marion County attorney. An officer responded to seven calls for service. School zones were patrolled. A runaway was reported. Buildings were checked.
May 18: School zones were patrolled. The newly hired police department secretary met with officers. An officer assisted bounty hunters in recovering a fugitive at Marion County Lake. Assistance was provided to Marion County Sheriff’s Department. Business checks were conducted.
May 19: School zones were patrolled. An officer attended court. Response was given to an incident in the 1100 block of East Main Street. A civil complaint was checked. A criminal case was investigated. A curfew violation was reported. Building checks were conducted. Backup was provided to a sheriff’s deputy.
May 20: School zones were patrolled. A theft was reported. An officer met with citizens. Suspicious activity was checked. Buildings were checked.
May 21: School zones were patrolled. A walk-through was provided at Marion High School, Marion Middle School, and Marion Elementary School. An officer responded to St. Luke Hospital regarding a dog bite. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department.
May 22: Businesses were checked. A traffic accident was reported. Assistance was provided to city employees in cutting and removing a tree limb on Billings Street. An open business door was secured. A complaint of a party was filed. Businesses were checked.
May 23: Businesses were checked. Response was given to a possible house fire; no fire was found. An officer attended MHS graduation. A dog was impounded. Foot patrol was provided.
May 24: School zones were patrolled. A dog complaint was checked. An officer provided a standby for an air ambulance at St. Luke Hospital. A dog was reported running at-large and was impounded. Assistance was provided with lights being left on in the school’s Hill Building. A child custody case was investigated. Business checks were completed.
May 25: School zones were patrolled. Broken benches were reported at Central Park. A dog was reported running at-large. Buildings were checked.
May 26: A vehicle was checked that was parked in front of a mailbox. Rebar was reportedly protruding from a city street. A 911 hang-up was checked. A dog was reported running at-large. An individual was reported in a fountain in the park. Keys were found in the intersection of Maple and South Freeborn streets. The county attorney was contacted regarding a violation of a protection from abuse order. A juvenile was reported running without clothing. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department in booking an inmate. Buildings were checked.
May 27: An accident was investigated at Main and Coble streets. Attempts were made to serve notices to appear. Businesses were checked. A motorist received assistance on U.S. 56 as requested by Kansas Highway Patrol.
May 28: An officer met with an individual regarding lost keys. Emergency medical services received assistance with a call. A parking complaint, a dog running at-large, and an activated alarm were checked. An injury accident was investigated.
May 29: A parking complaint was checked. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with an accident. An open business door was secured. Buildings were checked.
May 30: A gas meter was check after being struck by a vehicle. A dog was reported running at-large.
Officers made 31 traffic stops, issued 25 warnings, served six notices to appear, and investigated 15 dogs running at-large complaints, nine vehicle accidents, three thefts, three batteries, and two assaults, two violations of protection from abuse orders, a dog bite, and a harassment complaint.
