Marion girls win in OT

Staff writer

Calli Burkholder provided the cunning edge Thursday for the Marion girls in their 57-54 victory over host Conway Springs.

Burkholder hit five threes in the game, plus two two pointers.

Despite fouling out of the game, Jayden May’s consistent free throws —12 out of 14 — also helped the girls with their second win of the season.

Three Marion players scored in double digits over the course of the game — Burkholder had 19, May had 16, and Grace Hett had 10.

Two teams were within one point of each other at the end of each quarter until the back-and-forth stalemate was broken in overtime.

Marion girls’ next game will be Jan. 4 at Bennington.

Boys

The Marion boys lost 53-22 Thursday at Douglass. No further data was available and coach Donald Raymer could not be reached for comment.
