Marilyn Montgomery

Former Centre school district clerk Marilyn L. Montgomery, 83, of Lincolnville, died Thursday at Wesley Medical Center.

She was born near Lost Springs on Oct. 14, 1930, the daughter of Chris and Emma (Herbel) Deines. On June 27, 1953, she was married to Merrill “Monty” Montgomery.

She was a graduate of Lincolnville High School and Kansas City Secretarial School. She was a long-time clerk of the Centre school district, and later a bank teller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and by an infant sister, Arnetta Deines. She is survived by her children: Theresa Montgomery, of Mesa, Arizona; Barry Montgomery, of Lincolnville; and Larry Montgomery, of Lindsborg; her siblings, Leon Deines, of Goddard; Calvin Deines, of Lake Park, Florida; Irmagene Goodman, of Marion; and Don Deines, of Hawthorne, California; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville. Memorial funds have been established for the church or the American Cancer Society in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion KS 66861.
