Main Street to get new benches for Christmas

Peabody Main Street Association

The Peabody Main Street Association Design Committee recently approved the design of new benches which will be placed downtown. The decision was made by the organization to retire the benches that were created by John and Pearl (Watts) Clausen.

For many years the couple produced and cared for the benches that were located in front of downtown businesses. The benches were well-used by the community and have been repaired and repainted many times. The long-range design plan includes purchasing additional benches, wastebaskets, and planters in the future. To honor a loved one, memorials can be established to fund these items. A small plaque will be placed on the benches in tribute to those being honored. If you are interested in funding a downtown bench, please contact Shane Marler, Interim PMSA Executive Director, at 620-983-2174.
