Services for longtime Hillsboro businessman Loren J. Groening, 84, who died Sunday at Parkside Homes, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 27, 1934, in Hillsboro to David and Karoline (Weinbrenner) Groening, he married Lois Weber in 1955 and worked in his family’s Allis Chalmers and Firestone dealership before starting a clothing business in 1959.
He sold his downtown Hillsboro business in 1988 and became a real estate appraiser and agent.
A sister preceded him in death. Survivors in addition to his wife include children Terri Groening of Sarasota, Florida, and Kelly Groening of Estes Park, Colorado.
Memorials have been established with Hillsboro Community Foundation and Camp Mennoscah near Kingman.
