Little River Redskins shut out Peabody-Burns Warriors, 48-0

Staff writer

Little River skunked Peabody-Burns Friday, 48-0.

The Warriors were under the gun early, down two touchdowns by the end of the first quarter.

They had 95 yards of offense on 39 plays, most of which was accounted for by Robert Weerts. The quarterback had 58 total yards, with 40 yards rushing on seven attempts.

The following quarters were no more favorable for Peabody-Burns. The Redskins scored 18 in the second quarter, taking a 32-0 lead into the locker room.

The Warriors allowed 16 points in the second half, but the game was already long over.

Aside from the running of Weerts, the best production came from Noal Reynolds, who had 37 yards on three kickoff returns.

Thomas Page had a fair game on the defensive side of the ball, with five solo tackles, four assisted tackles, and one tackle for loss.

If there was a bright spot of the game, it was the Warriors’ ability to get after the ball. Despite allowing 200 yards rushing, the team had six tackles for loss.
