Lila Hoffman

Lila Hoffman, 91, of Marion died Nov. 24 at her home.

She was born Lila Annette Link on Nov. 20, 1921, to Christian and Mollie Link near Okeene, Okla. She graduated from Okeene High School. She moved to Wichita after graduation and was employed by Boeing Airplane Company.

She met and married LeRoy Hoffman, Jan. 20, 1945. They moved to Marion in 1945. They had two daughters.

Lila was a seamstress and also cared for the children of two families in her home. In 1958, she went to work at Van’s Department Store. In 1973, she went to work at the Marion County Treasurer’s office, where she retired in 1988.

Lila was a member of the Marion Christian Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and was active in CWF.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy; sons-in-law Michael Cupp and Ernest Peter; seven brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Janice Peter and Anita Hooper; son-in-law Martin Hooper; and sister, Peggy Buethe, all of Marion; five grandchildren, Patrick Cupps, Rebecca Hon, Daniel Peter, Laura Becker and husband Todd, and Christopher Peter; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Her funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Marion Christian Church. Burial will be at Marion Cemetery following services.

A memorial fund has been established with Marion Christian Church and the American Heart Association.
