To the editor,
I would like to take this opportunity to share the fact that there is still good in at least our small corner of the world, and it came in the form of an 8-year old young man.
I live across the street from the First Baptist Church in Peabody, and on the morning of Oct. 8 I watched this wonderful event as it happened.
Martin and Sonja Koslowsky, both partially disabled and walking with canes, were getting out of their car to take something into the church. At that same time, 8-year-old Chance Johnson was walking up Third Street, almost to the intersection at Vine, when he obviously saw the Koslowskys. He took off running so that he could get to the church door to hold it open for them. There was no one telling him he needed to do this, he just did it.
I know this is a small thing to make such a big deal over, but it goes to prove that there is still good in people in this town, and I am extremely proud of this young man that I don’t even know, who make an obvious effort to do something good for another person.
Thank you, Chance Johnson.
