LETTERS: Labor Day event is hard work

To the editor:

A big thank you to Melvin Honeyfield once again for helping the Florence Labor Day Committee. This year, Melvin was chairman after being on the committee for at least eight years.

When Melvin began helping the committee, he was in charge of advertising. His duties have increased like others who have volunteered their time but most of the other volunteers live in Florence. Melvin lives in Marion. He also helped to get the car show going that first year.

Until a person has worked on the committee for the three-day event, they shouldn’t complain because it is a big job for such a few people who help make it a success.

Again, thanks, Melvin and committee members plus some non-committee members who helped you.
